“The Truth About The Economy”
Summer 2010
Whether we all realize it or not, we are in the mist of a great battle . . . or, you may prefer competition. Either way, the battle or competition we find ourselves in is between the aspect of our thinking which believes in the power of the Truth . . . thus, inspiring us to call ourselves Truth students . . . and the Adversary, which in this case is the “Economy,” that is trying to convince us that the Truth principles we are striving to live by are useless in the face of its wrath.
Those of us who feel we are in a “battle” may be feeling overwhelmed, and maybe even defeated by the “Economy” . . . what we are calling the Adversary . . . that which is challenging the Truth principles we are striving to live by. And, those of us who feel we are in a “competition” (rather than battle) with the “Adversary” called the “Economy” may be feeling “challenged” . . . not quite“defeated,” but definitely “challenged” enough that we find ourselves working the principles cautiously, as opposed to boldly, with the demonstrable assurance that we know that Truth is greater than the“Adversary” called the “Economy.”
Then, there are those of us who step boldly into the arena where the battle between the “Economy” and “Truth” is being waged. Fully clad with the armor of Truth, we stare down the beast without letting it intimidate us. It’s not to say that we are not affected by what is occurring around us. But, what it does mean is that we remain fully vested in God as the True Source of our Supply, and thus we do not give our sense of “I AM” to the Adversary we are calling the Economy.
And, I used the pronoun “we” in each of these scenarios because each of us, at times, experiences varying aspects of all three arenas. Sometimes we feel like we are in a battle . . . sometimes we feel the competition between our doubt and our faith . . . and sometimes we feel fully clad in the armor of Truth, capable of staring down the beast without letting it intimidate us.
What I meant by not giving our sense of “I AM” to the Adversary we are calling the Economy, is, whenever we are struggling with something or against something, we falsely use our “I Am” to erroneously describe ourselves as being the thing we are struggling with . . . , i.e., I am sick . . . I am depressed . . . I am angry . . . or, in the context of what we are talking about in this lesson . . . I am broke, or, I can’t afford, or, I don’t or won’t have enough. While factually those things may be true, you still do not ever want to identify your “self” . . . meaning your “I Am” . . . with those negative experiences.
As much as possible you want to identify yourself mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually, as being healthy and well, positive and optimistic, prosperous and magnetically drawing unseen resources to yourself. And, as I said in a Sunday lesson: We receive by becoming open and receptive to God’s Living Spirit of Truth, and by repudiating the evidence of our senses which so convincingly tries to make us believe something other than God.
The word repudiate is perfect in this case, because it means to reject the validity or authority of something. In the case of this lesson, what we, as Truth students, are repudiating or rejecting is the perceived validity and authority of the Adversary called the Economy . . . the enemy that is trying to convince us to deny our faith in God as our true Source of Supply.
Our quest at Unity Center of Light is to get every one of us in the same mind set where we feel fully clad in the armor of Truth. No one in this church has a greater ability to hold onto the Truth than anyone else. We are all here because we want to develop a sense of spiritual mastery over our lives . . . mastery that would allow us to be in the world without being victims of its ever-changing circumstances. And the way to do that is to constantly practice using the Law of Mind Action to manifest what you want in your life as opposed to what you do not want. For those who do not know or do not remember or understand the Law of Mind Action, here is a simple explanation.
Your mind creates, in its own image and likeness, the idea of what you believe about your self and your life, and what you want and desire. The idea created from your mind then creates thought in its image and likeness, which is in line with what you believe about your self and your life and what you want and desire. The thought that came out of the idea created by your mind produces words in its image and likeness, and those words produce or manifest in accord with its image and likeness . . . all in accordance with what you believe about your self and your life, and what you want and desire. All this sets into motion a creative process to manifest or produce what your mind creates.
So, the first step is to make sure the image you have of your self is one of prosperity and abundance, regardless of what it is you may be experiencing. Why? . . . because as we just described, it is the image of your self that is ultimately responsible for how you are interacting with the Law of Mind Action . . . which is the creative process that is constantly bringing what you believe about your self and your life, into manifestation.
So, the work we must constantly engage in is to hold the image in our mind of what we want to manifest in our lives. We must work to hold the image of what we want regardless of what we may be experiencing. And, yes, I agree, it is not easy to hold an image of abundance or perfect health or harmonious relationship, when that is not what you are experiencing. But, it is the way to keep theAdversary, whatever or whoever that may be in your life, from causing you to image and experience what you do not want. It is the way of the Truth student. And to repeat what was said earlier, a Truth student is one who receives by being open and receptive to God’s Living Spirit of Truth, and by repudiating the evidence of his/her senses which so convincingly tries to make us believe something other than God.
If you would like more instruction on how to develop a prosperity consciousness in an economy that keeps advocating lack and limitation, call Unity Center of Light and ask how you can get CD’s of the series, The Ten Commandments of Spiritual Economics or go to the website and listen online. In the meantime, hold onto this thought, God is my instant, constant, abundant Source of Supply . . . and I am grateful.
